Stichting Terre – Rett Syndroom Fonds, onderzoeksschool CARIM van de Maastricht Universiteit en het Gouverneur Kremers Centrum hebben een master research overeenkomst getekend.
Het onderzoek dat binnen het raamwerk wordt uitgevoerd is gericht op het identificeren en begrijpen van nieuwe Rett-gerelateerde moleculaire mechanismen en hun rol in het ontstaan en ontwikkeling van de aandoening, met als doel het identificeren van nieuwe targets en het identificeren en valideren van leads voor de behandeling van patiënten met Rett Syndroom.
Vanwege het wetenschappelijk belang en de pure noodzaak voor patiënten en families kon ons onderzoek gelukkig worden voortgezet tijdens COVID-19. De overeenkomst is een hernieuwde formalisering van een klinische en onderzoekssamenwerking die al in 2010 werd gestart door het Gouverneur Kremers Centrum van het MUMC en onze stichting.
De overeenkomst werd ondertekend ten overstaan van prof. Chris Reutelingsperger, prof. Leon Schurgers, prof. Leopold Curfs, prof. Jacques Scheres, Joep Smeets en dr. Nasim Sangani, en andere senior onderzoekers van het Universiteit Maastricht.
We willen Petra Ruijgt bedanken voor haar vrijwillige steun bij de totstandkoming van deze overeenkomst.

I am glad to share that the Dutch Rett Syndrome Foundation (Stichting Terre), Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM) of Maastricht University and the Gouverneur Kremers Center have signed a master research agreement.
The research conducted under the framework aims to identify and understand new Rett-related molecular mechanisms and their role in the pathogenesis of Rett with the aim to identify new targets and identify and validate leads for treatment of Rett Syndrome.
The agreement is a renewed formalization of a clinical and research cooperation that was initiated by Gouverneur Kremers Center of MUMC and our foundation as early as 2010. We are also happy to share that due to its scientific importance and sheer necessity for patients and families our research was able to continue during COVID-19.
The agreement was signed in witness of prof. Chris Reutelingsperger, prof Leon Schurgers prof. Leopold Curfs, prof. Jacques Scheres, Joep Smeets, dr. Nasim Sangani and other senior MU researchers.
